The launch was held on the 23rd of May and was an enormous success. The night was kicked off with two dances: the festejo, an Afro-Peruvian dance, and the flamenco. Consul General of Spain Mr. Federico Palomera made the opening speech (see his notes on the website!). Dr. Alison Ingles spoke of how Co-operation 21 embodies what the University of Melbourne is in this moment striving hard to achieve: becoming more involved in the community. This was followed by speeches from Executive Board members Zoe Dauth, Gabriela Cabezas, Meribah Rose, James Owen Thomas and Elizabeth Bryer, who also gave a brief presentation of this website.
