Legal

The Legal Team is responsible for keeping an eye on any legal issues that might arise in the course of the organisation's activities. This involves collaborating with members of the other teams to make sure everything is legal and that we comply with all of the rules and regulations of the university.

Our most exciting achievement so far was organising for Co-operation 21 to become an Incorporated Association, which means that we now have official legal personality. This was a major hurdle for grant-seeking and for many necessary administrative tasks, like opening a bank account. Now that we have accomplished that, we are looking at getting Co-operation 21 registered for tax-deductible gift recipient status so that we can step up our fundraising efforts.
Members of the legal team are exposed to a range of different issues and activities. These include reseach, liasing with registrars, drafting legal documents, giving advice, and organising the Annual General Meeting. The Legal Team has an ongoing role in the management of Co-operation 21, and also undertakes one-off projects, such as registering Co-operation 21 for an ABN.
