Local Volunteer Programme
Co-operation 21's Local Volunteer Programme offers students the opportunity to participate in the Hispanic community on a local level. Co-operation 21's links with various organisations means that students can get involved, improve their Spanish, and gain credit toward their Spanish subject without even leaving the city!
The availability of volunteering positions varies, and at times placements are not immediately obtainable. This means that students may need to wait their turn before they can participate. However, what this does not mean is that they must remain idle during this waiting period. There are many ways to help out Co-operation 21 on an organisational level. Students can become members of the Volunteer Team or another of the teams (see the 'Be Part of a Team' section), or offer their expertise to one of the many projects that are always going on. Simply let us know that you are interested in helping out!
Students are encouraged to actively forge a relationship with the places they volunteer at from the beginning. This means showing initiative by meeting face-to-face with those in charge. Co-operation 21 is a launching pad for volunteering in the community, but is not a go-between. It is more beneficial for students if they make direct contact with volunteer sites, and report back to Co-operation 21 on a weekly basis.
